Buongiorno! We are very excited to introduce to you an outstanding line of wines that we have discovered through our travels in Italy's great north-western province of Piedmont. Rocche Costamagna, located in one of the most beautiful Italian towns, La Morra, is a historic estate which officially began producing wine in 1841. Within the Langhe region where Rocche Costamagna is located, there is the smaller region of Barolo. The Barolo region is one of the best wine growing regions in all of Italy and has long been known for the production of "the King of Italian wines, Barolo," one of Italy's greatest wines. Barolo is made up of eleven towns with La Morra, the most important of these, producing one third of the total yearly production of Barolo!

Since the 1980's Rocche Costamagna has been under the direction of Alessandro Locatelli, who has improved the vineyards and wine-making techniques, as well as carrying on the family tradition and drawing on the wealth of experience gathered by the family over many, many years. He and his wife also have a few beautifully decorated rooms above the winery with breathtaking views over the Langhe hills that are absolutly fabulous! We will be happy to arrange a visit to the winery which is a must see for those interested in the great wines of Piedmont.

Bob and Alek visited the estate back in April and could not wait to get Alessandro's wines into the store so the rest of us could taste these sumptuous selections. We have all now had a chance to taste their wines and are equally impressed as Bob and Alek with the quality; from their light and fruity Arneis to their big and bold Barolo's. We will be tasting a selection of their wines everyday throughout the week with a complete tasting this Saturday from 3 - 6PM. We look forward introducing you to these great wines!

Round with delicate minerality, elegant flavors of ripe peaches, flowers and apricots fill your mouth finishing with a pleasant, refreshing acidity. Excellent as an aperitif but will match well with a variety of hors d'Oeuvres, white fish dishes, or chicken Caesar salad.

Dolcetto d'Alba "Murrae" 2006 - DOC

Deep ruby red in color, with a pleasantly delicate fruity bouquet. The wine is dry and full-bodied in the mouth, with polished tannins and balanced acidity, with sweet aromas of mocha, black cherries, and cola. Excellent with poultry, roasted porkloin or soft cheeses.

Barolo "Rocche Annunziata" 2004 - DOCG

Balanced and elegant in the mouth with pleasant tannins and a long finish of ripe red fruits. Excellent with roasted red meats, braised veal, or mature cheeses and it matches perfectly with truffle-based dishes.

Barolo "Bricco Francesco" 2004 - DOCG
Crimson red with ruby highlights the wide bouquet ranges between fruits (plums, Morello cherries, and blackberries) to spices (vanilla, chocolate, liquorice).
